Orbis International will present a panel during next months' South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, TX, to explore new ways to fight avoidable blindness around the world.
The Orbis panel, "Fighting Blindness with Tech Innovation and Access," will feature Chief of Program Dr. Danny Haddad, Dr. Daniel Neely, professor of ophthalmology at Indiana University School of Medicine — a pediatric ophthalmology specialist and long-time Orbis volunteer surgeon — and Brian Studwell, director of consultant programs for Crestron Electronics, one of the companies that supports Orbis through the donation of state-of-the-art AV and automation technology. And the panel will be moderated by Corrie Pelc, content director of OphthalmologyWeb and OptometryWeb.
During the panel, audience members will reportedly have the chance to experience a virtual tour of the world's only mobile, fully accredited Flying Eye Hospital on board Orbis International's MD-10 aircraft, and learn how technology on the plane is used to train thousands of eye health professionals around the globe.
Orbis' SXSW session will take place on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 5-6pm in Room 9c of the Austin Convention Center.
