Heidelberg Engineering GmbH recently announced it has acquired Medisoft Limited, a U.K.-based provider of electronic medical records (EMR) software solutions for the ophthalmology market.
According to Heidelberg, the acquisition of Medisoft will significantly strengthen its ophthalmic healthcare IT business. And incorporating Medisoft's advanced ophthalmic EMR product within Heidelberg's portfolio will enable the company to release comprehensive software solutions to bring disparate data together for improved patient care and operational efficiencies.
While ophthalmic IT solutions will reportedly plan in increasingly growing role in Heidelberg's portfolio, the company will reportedly continue to focus on its core business of diagnostic imaging platforms for eyecare professionals.
