In recent years, both infectious diseases have emerged as major global public health crises that can cause blindness or visual impairment. This panel of experts brings together the nation’s top experts who are fighting and studying the diseases on the front globally in the world.

- Steven Yeh, M.D., Emory Eye Center professor of ophthalmology and author of a seminal paper on the ocular effects of Ebola on the eye
- Camila Ventura, M.D., ophthalmologist with the Altino Ventura Foundation in Recife, Brazil, the epicenter of the current global Zika outbreak
- Rachel Bishop, M.D., MPH, National Eye Institute, National Institute of Health, member of an NEI team sent to study Ebola in Liberia
- Allen Eghrari, M.D., assistant professor of ophthalmology, Johns Hopkins Medical Center, member of an NEI team sent to study Ebola in Liberia
