Doheny Resident Clinical Conference: Stevens-Johnson Syndrome

Doheny Resident Clinical Conference: Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
Ying Pan, M.D.
Contributing Editor

Dr. Ying Pan of the Doheny eye institute has generously shared with us a recent case presentation of SJS. The reported incidence of SJS in the US is roughly 1:1,000,000 per year, making actually seeing a case first-hand rather infrequent. Still, odds are you'll see one, and when you do, you'd better be prepared. Long term sequelae are quite severe resulting in the formation of scar tissue inside the eyelids and corneal neovascularization. The good news is, there's plenty you can do for these patients. Take a look at the slide set for a quick review of the case and key issues in patient management. - Ed.
