Glaucoma Research Foundation Now Accepting Proposals for 2018 Research Grants

The Glaucoma Research Foundation (GRF) is now accepting preliminary proposals for one-year grants to explore new ideas in glaucoma research.

Research scientists interested in applying for a one-year, $40,000 Shaffer Grant can submit proposals from now until July 15, 2017 through GRF's website. GRF reportedly encourages innovative ideas that will bring the scientific community closer to an in-depth understanding of glaucoma and its potential cures. Strategic goals for GRF's grand funding include accurately detect glaucoma and monitor its progress; find the genes responsible for glaucoma; protect and restore the optic nerve; understand the intraocular pressure system and develop better treatments; and determine glaucoma damage risk factors.

Interdisciplinary teams and collaborations that may lead to new glaucoma treatments are encouraged to apply, and grant applicants must possess at least a graduate degree.
