 FFB Announces $6M in New Funding for Inherited Retinal Disease Research

The Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB) recently announced $6 million in new research funding for the development of preventions, treatments and cures for inherited retinal diseases including retinitis pigmentosa and macular degeneration.

With this new funding, FFB reportedly now supports 101 research projects conducted by over 150 investigators at 61 institutions around the world.

FFB research awards reportedly provide support within four major grant programs. Some of the many research topics included in these programs include the identification of factors that stimulate retinal regeneration, splice modulation to treat retinal diseases, dual vector gene therapy development, and a photoswitch drug candidate for the treatment of retinal pigmentosa.
