The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) has joined with other scientific societies in supporting the March for Science — a celebration of science scheduled for Earth Day, Saturday, April 22, 2017.
According to ARVO, the goals of the March are to support scientists, humanize science, partner with and engage the broader public, and advocate for open, inclusive and accessible science. While the March for Science will take place in Washington, DC, ARVO reportedly plans to support the March by encouraging participation amongst ARVO members around the world, as well as staff.
Opportunities for members to become involved include attending a local March, sharing how their research serves all people through social media campaigns like #ScienceServes and more. ARVO is currently seeking art and photo submissions from members for March for Science Sign Art contest — visit ARVO's March for Science webpage for more information on how to become involved.
There are currently 360 satellite Marches scheduled in cities around the world. Click here to search for one near you.
