With ACUVUE® ADVANCE™ For Astigmatism #1 Contact Lens For Astigmatism, Vistakon To Discontinue ACUVUE® TORIC Brand

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Inc.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 5, 2007) – With ACUVUE® ADVANCETM for ASTIGMATISM Brand Contact Lenses now established as the most widely prescribed toric contact lens*, Vistakon today announced plans to discontinue its ACUVUE® Brand TORIC Contact Lenses. After January 2008, Vistakon will supply ACUVUE TORIC only while supplies last.

“With its unique Accelerated Stabilization Design, HYDRACLEAR® technology for all day comfort, and Class I UV-blocking†**, ACUVUE ADVANCE for ASTIGMATISM is a better option for current ACUVUE TORIC patients,” says Pat Cummings, OD, VP, Professional Affairs & Customer Development, Vistakon.

“ACUVUE ADVANCE for ASTIGMATISM is also a marked advantage for practitioners because it helps reduce chair time when fitting astigmatic patients,” adds Dr. Cummings. “The traditional toric lens fitting process can require waiting up to 15 minutes for the lens to settle before assessing its fit. The Accelerated Stabilization Design of ACUVUE ADVANCE for ASTIGMATISM stabilizes the lens, allowing it to settle into place within one minute.”

Research in a market test shows that astigmatic patients reported high levels of satisfaction with ACUVUE ADVANCE for ASTIGMATISM, and reported feeling more favorable toward their doctor for prescribing the lens. To help ACUVUE TORIC patients make a smooth transition to ACUVUE ADVANCE for ASTIGMATISM, Vistakon is offering patients a $75 rebate following an eye examination and purchase of a year’s supply of ACUVUE ADVANCE for ASTIGMATISM lenses. The $75 rebate is not currently offered to ACUVUE TORIC patients. The company also offers a 100% money-back guarantee if patients are not 100% satisfied with ACUVUE ADVANCE for ASTIGMATISM.

ACUVUE TORIC and ACUVUE ADVANCE for ASTIGMATISM are indicated for daily wear vision correction. As with all contact lenses, eye problems, including corneal ulcers, can develop. Some wearers may also experience mild irritation, itching or discomfort. Lenses should not be prescribed if patients have any eye infection, or experience eye discomfort, excessive tearing, vision changes, redness or other eye problems. Consult the package insert for complete information. For further information call 1-800-843-2020 or visit www.ecp.acuvue.com.

† Helps protect against transmission of harmful UV radiation to the cornea and into the eye. ** WARNING: UV-absorbing contact lenses are NOT substitutes for protective UV-absorbing eyewear such as UV-absorbing goggles or sunglasses because they do not completely cover the eye and surrounding area. You should continue to use UV-absorbing eyewear as directed. NOTE: Long term exposure to UV radiation is one of the risk factors associated with cataracts. Exposure is based on a number of factors such as environmental conditions (altitude, geography, cloud cover) and personal factors (extent and nature of outdoor activities). UV-Blocking contact lenses help provide protection against harmful UV radiation. However, clinical studies have not been done to demonstrate that wearing UV-Blocking contact lenses reduces the risk of developing cataracts or other eye disorders. Consult your eye care practitioner for more information.
