The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine was recently ranked the nation's Best Hospital for Ophthalmology by U.S. News & World Report.
Each year, U.S. News & World Report ranks the top hospitals in the country, including by specialty. For the 2016-2017 edition, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute was ranked first out of 12 hospitals in the ophthalmology category. This is reportedly the institution's 15th time being ranked first.
All 12 hospitals had reportedly been recommended by at least five percent of ophthalmology specialists responding to U.S. News surveys from 2014 to 2016. Wills Eye Hospital at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia was ranked second, while Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore was ranked third.
