- The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) recently issued a clinical alert regarding hemorrhagic occlusive retinal vasculitis (HORV) with intraocular vancomycin.
- Bausch + Lomb recently issued a business update from Senior Vice President & General Manager for U.S. Vision Care Mark McKenna. - CareCredit has expanded its existing relationship to a multi-year agreement with Vision Group Holdings, which oversees and manages two of the leading LASIK surgery providers -- The LASIK Vision Institute (LVI) and TLC Laser Eye Centers. Under the terms of the agreement, CareCredit will be the first patient financing option recommendation at 48 TLC Laser Centers locations in 30 states and at 82 LVI locations.

- The Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute in San Francisco was recently named the recipient of a five-year NIH/NEI training grant for postdoctoral training in vision research. The training grant fellowship is reportedly open for research in any field of visual neuroscience, oculomotor control, and low-vision/blindness rehabilitation.
- Medical diagnostic device company Welch Allyn, Inc. was recently recognized by Frost & Sullivan with the 2016 North America Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Leadership for diabetic retinopathy screening.
- And Zeiss held its first-ever "Optics in the Digital World" symposium in Germany last week. The event brought together about 200 international scientists and industry experts to discuss current trends in optics and photonics. Zeiss reportedly plans to hold this symposium every two years.
