Mass Eye and Ear Scientists Design Low Vision Smartphone App Using Google Glass

Researchers from Schepens Eye Research Institute of Massachusetts Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School are using Google Glass to help those with low vision see their smartphones better.

The new app is reportedly based on technology that improves upon the built-in zoom feature of smartphones, which low vision users can find hard to use due to a loss of context. The app projects a magnified version of the user's smartphone screen while they're wearing Google Glass. The user can then navigate through the screen just by moving their head.

The researchers' results were recently published online in the journal IEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering.
