OWL Welcomes Audrey Talley Rostov, MD and Ellen Troyer, MT MA; Heather Ready, MBA to become Treasurer
Washington, DC – April 25, 2013 – Ophthalmic Women Leaders (OWL), an organization furthering the professional development and advancement of women in the eye care industry, today announced the appointment of two new members to its board of directors: Audrey Talley Rostov, MD, and Ellen Troyer, MT MA. In addition to these new appointments, Heather Ready – formerly OWL’s Program Chair – will now act as Treasurer for the organization.
Audrey Talley-Rostov, MD is a partner at Northwest Eye Surgeons in Seattle and a specialist in cornea, external disease and anterior segment surgery. She serves on several AAO and ASCRS committees including the cornea preferred practice patterns and clinical cataract committees. Dr. Talley Rostov is the recipient of an achievement award from the Academy of Ophthalmology for and has received recognition from AAO outstanding service and contributions to the cornea PPP committee/publication on external disease. She currently serves on the medical advisory board for SightLife and is actively involved with fundraising and volunteer work for the global initiative project, as well as establishing a global link corneal fellowship.
Ellen Troyer, MT MA has over 30 years’ experience in medical science and professional education services. Ms. Troyer is the Biosyntrx CEO and has led the Biosyntrx product research & development, education, marketing and business development activities for the past ten years. She was responsible for co-development and patenting of the first oral dry eye formulation in the nutraceutical arena. She has edited or written chapters in a number of health books, co-authored peer-reviewed journal articles, and has published over 500 weekly nutrition science/eye-disease-specific columns called Friday Pearls. Ellen is also a founding board member of the Ocular Nutrition Society (ONS), as well as the nutrition science board member of Macular Degeneration Support, the largest world-wide community of AMD patients (www.mdsupport.org).
Heather Ready, MBA entered ophthalmology in marketing leadership roles with CooperVision Surgical, Alcon Surgical, VISX Inc., AMO and currently, AcuFocus, Inc., where she serves as Director of Commercialization for Canada and Latin America. Her efforts at VISX helped chart the course for the company’s marketing and business development, expanding refractive surgery within eye care worldwide. Currently, her focus is on the development of the largely untapped presbyopic market to address patients over 40. Heather has consistently been associated with leading edge technology moving care forward and defining new areas of practice focus and opportunity.
