Haag-Streit’s LED Conversion Kits Improve Slit Lamp Illumination

Mason, Ohio (March 4, 2013)—Haag-Streit USA’s new conversion kits bring LED (light emitting diode) illumination to existing tungsten BM 900 and BQ 900 slit lamps. LED lasts approximately 35,000 hours—150 times longer than a tungsten bulb. They don’t emit radiation or produce any heat, giving patients a more comfortable exam.

The new LED conversion features a light spectrum that illuminates minute details in the anterior chamber, cornea and lens. The improved view also assists with depth perception, whether it’s evaluating the depth of a foreign object in the eye or analyzing anterior chamber depth.

Retrofitted slit lamps deliver extremely bright and homogenous lighting. The LED conversion includes built-in background illumination for imaging-ready slit lamps and eliminates the need for any additional external light sources or long fiber optics. Controls for both the LED illumination and background illumination are located on the table top.

Conversion kits are available for Haag-Streit slit lamp models with a single control joystick. To upgrade your slit lamp, call 1-800-787-5426 or email [email protected].
