Vision Research Center
KANSAS CITY, MO—The Geraldine and R.A. Barrows Foundation, UMB Bank, n.a., Trustee; Carter Community Memorial Trust, UMB Bank, n.a., Trustee, and Kearney Wornall Foundation, UMB Bank, n.a., Trustee have collectively pledged a $300,000 grant to the Vision Research Foundation of Kansas City to advance its research efforts for eye disease.
“The support of the UMB trusts is a great boon to our research efforts that seek to go beyond the traditional academic research end game of publications and presentations and instead focus on bringing new findings to the patient’s bedside through better treatments,” stated Dr. Nelson Sabates, president of the Vision Research Foundation and founding director of the Vision Research Center. “In medicine, this trajectory is often made possible through the philanthropic support of forward-thinking contributors like UMB and the various trusts they oversee. We are indebted to them and numerous others who share in our vision for better treatments for age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma.” The Vision Research Foundation has raised approximately $900,000 in the last 12 months from these individuals, corporations, and foundations toward this mission.
