Upgraded Angiography Software Enables Visualization of Eye Microvasculature

Global ophthalmic and optometric equipment company NIDEK CO., LTD has announced this week the launch of AngioScan, an upgraded OCT-Angiography software that enables visualization of retinal and choroidal microvasculature and blood flow using the RS-3000 Advance 2 Optical Coherence Tomography.

The new analysis function quantifies vessels in each layer providing metrics to assess disease progression and the effects of treatment. For a more thorough evaluation, the NIDEK AngioScan presents a vessel density map and a perfusion density map. Additionally, the foveal avascular zone (FAZ) is automatically detected and shape metrics are provided for rapid assessment.

A newly designed interface simultaneously displays seven slabs for each layer on one screen. The simple one display interface is intuitive and summary charts facilitate quick evaluation of the most relevant clinical features.

Improved image processing algorithms enable visualization of sub-clinical neovascularization. New projection artifact removal algorithms provide an accurate representation of vasculature by significantly reducing artifacts for better OCT-Angiography image interpretation.
