Ophthalmologists Honored at Glaucoma 360 Annual Gala

Two ophthalmologists were recently honored for their work in glaucoma at the Glaucoma Research Foundation’s Glaucoma 360 Annual Gala, held earlier this month in San Francisco.

Dr. Eugene de Juan Jr., founder and vice-chairmen of ForSight Labs in Menlo Park, Calif., and the Jean Kelly Stock Distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco, was presented with the Catalyst Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership and commitment to advancing ophthalmology.

And Dr. Richard T. Libby, associate professor for the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, was presented with the 2017 Shaffer Prize for Innovative Glaucoma Research for his research project "Understanding Axonal Degeneration Pathways in Glaucoma."

This year's Annual Gala reportedly raised $520,000 for essential glaucoma research and education programs.
