Humayun Named Keynote Speaker for 2017 Envision Conference

Envision recently announced ophthalmologist Dr. Mark S. Humayun — a 2015 recipient of the National Medal of Technology and Innovation by President Barack Obama — will be the keynote speaker at the 12th annual Envision Conference, July 26-29, 2017, in Glendale, Ariz.

A professor of ophthalmology at the University of Southern California (USC) and co-director of the school's Roski Eye Institute, Humayun is probably best known as the co-inventor of the Argus Series retina implant "bionic eye" made by Second Sight. During his keynote address, Humayun will reportedly discuss the genesis of the Argus II and address the importance of innovation in addressing vision loss.

The annual Envision Conference is designed to provide opportunities for low vision professionals in multidisciplinary fields — including both ophthalmology and optometry — to exchange ideas and information. The conference reportedly offers vision care professionals 90 hours of clinical education and research sessions.
