YAG Lasers for Trabeculotomy and Capsulotomy

YAG lasers are often used for Capsulotomy and Trabeculectomy procedures. Yag Laser Capsulotomy is a procedure intended to correct posterior capsule opacity whereas Trabeculectomy is a procedure used in Glaucoma patients to relieve intraocular pressure via YAG laser. A Capsulotomy is necessary when the capsule becomes cloudy because of healing scar tissue. This is a fairly common condition post-operatively. The Yag Laser creates a tiny hole in the posterior membrane to allow the passage of light through and to restore clear and unobstructed vision. A Trabeculectomy or SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculectomy) is partial removal of the trabecular meshwork and surrounding areas to drain excess fluid and relieve pressure.

Many YAG lasers on the market now boast the dual features that enable an Ophthalmologist to perform both Capsulotomy and Trabeculectomy procedure via one laser. This allows an Ophthalmology practice to utilize available space and decrease the amount of large equipment needed. Many of these YAG lasers offer upgradable features that are available to add on at a later date, insuring your practice stays up to date.

DescriptionThe YC-200 S plus combination YAG and SLT laser and the YC-200 YAG laser incorporate precise targeting options, homogeneous energy delivery and operative assist functions to ensure pathology is treated "Right on the Mark".NIDEK’s compact YC-1800 ophthalmic photodisruptor offers the latest in innovative laser delivery and output technologies. Fast operation and ultra adjustability make the YC-1800 YAG Laser treatment system the finest available anywhere.
FeaturesA suite of technologies has been incorporated in these lasers to achieve seamless function and greater precision. Features for targeting pathology, accurate energy delivery, and operative assist functions allow the surgeon to deliver treatments “Right on the Mark”.

  • Refined Laser Delivery with Lower Energy
The YC-200 S plus / YC-200 achieves 1.6 mJ plasma threshold in air*, delivering accurate and robust treatments with lower energy.
*A plasma threshold of 1.6 mJ is achieved in ordinary room conditions (in-house data).

  • SLT-NAVI*
The SLT-NAVI feature presents an intuitive display on the progress of laser treatment, providing the surgeon with important feedback.
*Available for the YC-200 S plus

  • Clear and Sharp Field of View
An improved optical design that optimizes resolution and contrast, and an expanded focal depth provide a clear view of pathology and treatment.

  • Precise Aiming Beam
Motorized Rotatable Aiming Beam (YAG Mode)
The dual aiming beam offers superior targeting with a 360° rotating aiming beam that can avoid corneal opacities and achieve more accurate focusing.
Precise Edge Aiming Beam (SLT Mode*)
Parfocality delivers a clear view for easier focusing of the aiming beam through the contact lens.
*Available for the YC-200 S plus

  • Optimized Operating Distance*
Maximized working distance allows easier manipulation of the contact lens, and the short operating distance decreases surgeon fatigue during treatment.
*Operating distance denotes the distance from the microscope eyepiece to the patient’s eye.

  • Unique Joystick
    Utility S-switch
The S-switch on the joystick changes treatment settings without shifting gaze from the oculars. The ease of use allows surgeons an increased level of comfort during treatment.
-High operability with S-switch on joystick
The S-switch on the joystick provides changes to treatment settings while maintaining alignment on the region being treated. The convenience of not looking away from the oculars during treatment and ease of use allow surgeons an increased level of comfort during treatment.

-Reliable laser output with unique D-pulse control
The YC-1800 employs D-pulse, the advanced technology to control the pulse number under the CPU, providing stable laser output without being affected by environmental conditions and change over time.

-Dual rotatable aiming beam for accurate alignment
The dual 635 nm aiming beam offers superior targeting, which in turn enhances the speed and ease of surgery. The 635 nm beam is also safer for human eyes because it achieves the same crisp and sharp intensity of 650 nm or 670 nm beam with half the power output. The dual aiming beam can be rotated incrementally up to 360º permitting efficient and precise treatment.

-Wide range of focus shift
Focus shift enables focal point of YAG laser beam to shift within 500 µm in an anteroposterior direction from focal point of aiming beam. It is displayed in 25 µm increments, which allows minute setting to meet various clinical needs.

-Easily upgraded to the YAG/Green Combo system
The combination with NIDEK laser photocoagulator, MC-500, GYC-500, and GYC-1000 allows wide range of treatment and saves space in a operation room.
