 The Technology Update -- October 6, 2016

Here's a look at the latest news regarding electronic health record (EHR) and practice management software, as well as other technology tools.

  • RevolutionEHR recently announced it has acquired Getwell -- a provider of cloud-based EHR and PMS software to ECPs. The acquisition reportedly provides users of Getwell, Visions and Eyebase software a seamless transition for implementing RevolutionEHR into their practices.
  • First Insight Corporation — developers of MaximEyes certified EHR and practice management software for ECPs — recently released a new patient Check-in App for the iPad® that integrates with MaximEyes software. The Check-in App allows patients to confirm their demographic data, and can capture their electronic signature for HIPAA and other forms. Additionally, First Insight has also launched its Advanced Patient Portal tools that integrate with MaximEyes EHR and practice management software that helps with online scheduling, online faxing and online welcome/medical history forms.
  • Eyefinity® and Weave are partnering to help ECPs improve patient interactions by providing front desk staff access to pertinent patient information at the exact moment patients call in. And the integration of Eyefinity and Weave provides comprehensive management of both the front and back-end office functions, improving effectiveness of administrative tasks such as scheduling and collecting payment.
  • A new telemedicine workflow solution has been recently introduced by iViews Imaging System, Inc., to help ECPs navigate the emerging telemedicine healthcare system. The iViews Telemedicine Solution captures and sends images in real-time from general practitioners to ophthalmologists for review, allowing for expedited patient care and helping increase the clinical volume for ECPs.
  • And MacuHealth's SightRisk USA™ recently launched a new and improved cloud-based software upgrade for an enhanced experience for both doctors and patients. SightRisk can be used by ECPs to assess a patient's modifiable lifestyle factors that can impact their vision loss later in life. Patients answer a set of questions via email that are submitted through the SightRisk algorithm and patient recommendations are then forwarded to the ECP's office for their review.
