UM Cure 2020 Receives Funding to Identify New Therapies for Uveal Melanoma

UM Cure 2020 — a new European Consortium to foster research and treatments on metastatic uveal melanoma (UM) — has received 6 million euros of funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program to identify new therapeutic approaches over the next five years.

The consortium reportedly plans to identify and validate novel therapeutic approaches to help improve the outcome of UM patients and increase survival rates. The group of 12 partner institutions plans to do this through characterizing tumor tissue from UM patients and validating accurate biomarkers to evaluate therapies and detect metastases as early as possible.
