SLT as a Primary Therapy for Glaucoma - Video Interview with Andrew G. Iwach, MD, Glaucoma Center of San Francisco, California

The use of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) as a primary therapy has slowly taken hold since its US introduction in 2001. Achieving the desired therapeutic effect whilst avoiding the coagulative damage that is associated with argon laser trabeculoplasty (ALT), SLT is now seen as a viable alternative to medications in patients with newly diagnosed glaucoma. According to glaucoma expert Andrew G. Iwach, MD, at the ASCRS 2013 in San Francisco, he and his colleagues have known for a long time that SLT delivers better IOP-reducing results when used as primary therapy.
