IOPtima Publishes Follow-Up Data on Study for Using CLASS for Treating Glaucoma

Surgical ophthalmic device developer IOPtima Ltd. recently published three-year follow-up data from a multi-center study of patients undergoing CLASS (CO2 Laser Assisted Sclerectomy Surgery) with its IOPtiMate™ CO2 laser system for treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) or pseudoexfoliative glaucoma, showing long-term pressure reduction and low complication rate.

According to IOPtima, the study evaluated 111 consecutive eyes of 111 participants and showed a decrease in intraocular pressure (IOP) from baseline at one, two and three years of 45.1, 46.8 and 42.5 percent (P< 0.001), respectively. Additionally, patients also used significantly fewer medications after surgery.

The study was recently published in the Journal of Glaucoma.
