Glaucoma visual field testing has been dominated by the Humphrey device for years. However, visual field analyzers continue to be refined and improved upon. New features include touch screen operation, new software algorithms and automated perimetry capabilities. Current devices are much more comfortable for patients than earlier models. This allows for either a fast threshold reading or full testing. But the most important aspect of the new visual field analyzers has been the development of the short-wavelength blue-on-yellow testing strategy that allows glaucoma to be discovered 5 to 7 years sooner than with white-on-white devices. Here are a few examples of visual field analyzers.
