Ophthalmic Operating Microscopes (Ophthalmology Surgical Microscope)

The human eye is an extremely delicate organ, and so performing ophthalmic surgery requires the ability to monitor progress on a micro-level. Ophthalmic operating microscopes are designed to provide high contrast and detailed imaging of all regions of the human eye. When choosing an ophthalmic operating microscope, it is important to pay attention to the type of optics employed. An apochromatic lens (or apo) will provide high light transmission, permitting high-quality imaging at lower light intensities. Certain models of ophthalmic surgery microscope provide multiple lighting options such as the ability to switch between halogen and xenon. An ophthalmic surgical microscope can either be fixed or adjustable, and some models provide a second “observer” set of binoculars, some of which can independently adjust the focusing mechanism.

DescriptionThe Leica M844 F40 belongs to the premium class of ophthalmic surgical microscopes and offers optimal solutions particularly for posterior and high-end anterior segment surgery. Combined with the Leica M844 APO OptiChrome™ optics and direct halogenLeica M501 combines quality and precision and has brand new illumination concept which grants an easily achievable, perfectly stable RedReflex. It gives a brilliant resolution and increased depth of field, and has a built-in prism for glowing red Leica M651 MSC has been specially designed for practicing microsurgical techniques. It is renowned for its clear, outstandingly sharp images, it's great depth of field, its pronounced 3D effect, its high light intensity and its faithful color Leica M680 has been specially designed for microsurgery. It is also known as the "two-in-one-microscope".The Leica M844 F40 with its new stand F19 contains three high precision mechanical friction brakes which allow on the one hand to homogenously move the arms and on the other hand to operate with a solid and stable microscope. Features
  • See more with less light
Leica Optics have superior light gathering ability. Sharp, brilliant, true anatomical color images with excellent depth of field are obtained under limited or even no microscope illumination. The result: better detail recognition, added patient safety, and fatigue-free viewing for the surgeon.
  • QuadZoom: The teaching solution
Only Leica's QuadZoom™ technology features four separate beam paths in the same zoom system. No manual adjustment by the teacher is necessary. Leica's Double Wing furthermore allows two students/assistants to have full stereo view at the same magnification.
  • Work in comfort
The Leica M844 F40 offers various features to enhance the surgeon's and assistant's comfort and to support an ergonomical workflow. For example: individually adjustable binocular tubes such as the UltraLow™ II binocular tubes, Leica Wireless Footswitch, Two-in-One display, StepCycle™, and Auto Reset function.
  • High-definition documentation
The Med X Change HDMD™ All-in-One (AIO), a compact, integrated HD digital recording system, provides stunning, high-quality videos, and still images. The system is exclusively available from Leica Microsystems. Additionally, surgical cases can be wirelessly transfered to an Apple® device with Med X Mobile.
  • Integration of retinal accessories
Leica Microsystems' surgical microscopes are designed to integrate the most commonly used wide-angle observation systems and stereo image inverters. They are also provided with a quick mount interface to comfortably and quickly install and remove e.g. the Leica slit lamp.
  • True Red Reflex
The double beam stereo illumination and Leica's large OttoFlex™ II illumination diameter enable true three-dimensional vision, and better Red Reflex stability and brightness. The result: increased depth of field, less XY-centering and refocusing required, brightness adjustable where it is needed most.
Compact stand system for easy and rapid positioning. New swingarm with precision bearings for smooth movement. Small, stable base with large lockable casters. Motorized XY-unit, speed adjustable with automatic and manual reset function. Tilt mechanism with integrated fine adjustment. Coaxial illumination with homogeneous illuminated field. Red Reflex illumination integrated.Built-in homogeneous and strong halogen light. Easy-to-use and stable floor stand, mobile with large casters. Precise manual fine positioning controls for movement of the microscope. Modular system with selection of different binocular tubes. Selection of different co-observation tubes. Adaptability of various video and photo systems. Built-in filter holders. Large extension of the swingarm.Perfect 3D effect, superb resolution and brilliant contrast. Four beam paths. Constant light intensity over the whole magnification range that works even when the microscope is switched off. Proportional speed (the adjustment speed of the focus drives), and swivelling and tilting joints which are dependent on the selected magnification.
  • Original APO OptiChrome™ optics
  • QuadZoom™, motorized 6:1 zoom, 2x2 beam paths for identical view for all observers
  • 100% illumination and stereo view for the main surgeon and the assistant both at the identical magnification
  • Leica Halogen Illumination concept
  • Double Beam Red Reflex for fundus reflex in all positions
  • OttoFlex™ II, for high contrast and brilliant red reflex
  • Leica F19, solid stand system with 3 high precision mechanical friction brakes for homogenous movement
  • New UltraLow II binocular tube for ideal eyepiece to field distance regardless of accessories used
  • Two-in-One Display (control unit / live video display)
  • ISUS™ System
  • StepCycle™ - semi-automatic surgery function
  • Ergonomic brakes-release for perfect positioning
