AAO 2015 Volk 1

Company Overview

Volk Optical, Inc.

Booth # 4045

Volk Optical (www.volk.com) is the world leader in the design and manufacturing of ophthalmic lenses for retinal and anterior chamber examinations and treatments. The first indirect ophthalmoscopy lens was developed 50 years ago by Dr. David Volk.  This led to the patented double aspheric lens designs still in use today, the leading standard in the ophthalmic industry. From its early beginnings to the present day, Volk has designed and developed 3 generations of contact and non-contact lenses for use in examination, diagnosis & treatment, as well as surgical applications.

You might be surprised that Volk is not just a lens company. Volk has been working vigorously to address unmet needs in portable digital imaging. With a pair of portable ophthalmic imaging devices to our credit, and a brand new iPhone fundus imager launching at AAO, Volk is striving to redefine the future of ophthalmology.

Short Description:

Volk will be offering all of its ophthalmic lens products for sale from the tradeshow booth at AAO. From non-contact BIO lenses, and slit lamp lenses, to contact laser & diagnostic lenses, Volk will offer its full line of lenses as well as complimentary laser engraving and a free-multi-lens case with the purchase of any lens.

In addition, Volk has begun offering Single Use contact laser lenses to help negate the cost of reprocessing (disinfection) of reusable lenses. As well, Single Use lenses help to eliminate the transmission of infectious disease which have a greater potential incidence with the use of durable reusable medical devices. Volk will launch the Volk® 1 Single Use Capsulotomy & Iriditomy Lenses at AAO. Sold in packs of 10. Sample packs will be available for trial.

Volk will be featuring its new laser vitreolysis lens at AAO, the Idrees MidVitreous Lens. Make sure to stop by on Sunday, November 15th to meet with Dr. Karl Brasse, a world leader in laser vitreolysis techniques, who will be offering educational info sessions and offering on-on-one dialogue on best practices for treating floaters and opacities following capsulotomy.

Volk will have its surgical system devices, the Merlin® and the ROLS® on display for demonstration. Volk will also have its full line of surgical vitrectomy and surgical gonio lenses, including the new Volk Transcend TVG Surgical Gonio Lens, which is revolutionizing MIGS.

Volk will feature its portable fundus camera, the Pictor Plus, as well as the Volk Eye Check ocular measurement device with its brand new Oculoplastics Mode mode. The Pictor Plus ophthalmic camera takes high-resolution digital images and video of the retina, anterior structures, and features fluorescein angiography in a convenient hand-held, portable design. The Volk Eye Check is a mobile, hand-held ocular measurement device that takes measurements of the eyes for use in screening & diagnosis of strabismus, anisocoria, ptosis, and buphthalmos. New at AAO for Volk Eye Check is an Oculoplastics module that offers 26 lid measurements and a Grid Mode for conveniently comparing and measuring ocular landmarks pre- and post-op.  A convenient feature for clinical & cosmetic oculoplasty.

These imaging devices are available for demonstration at the booth and we will be happy to set up any visitors with a complimentary 2-week trial of either device so that you can learn the value of their use in your practice. In addition, Dr. David Tasker of San Antonio, TX, will be present at Volk’s booth Saturday to Monday to educate and discuss techniques in retinal imaging using Pictor Plus and to offer best practices in engaging and educating patients on their pathology and treatment in the exam room.

Lastly, Volk will launch a new iPhone fundus camera, the Volk iNview, at AAO in Las Vegas.  Leverage the power and convenience of the Apple iPhone with the trusted quality of Volk optics. Volk®1 Single Use Capsulotomy & Iridotomy Lenses

Convert to Single Use lenses and realize the benefit of savings as well as patient safety.  The cost of disinfecting contact ophthalmic lenses is a hidden cost to your practice. Estimates show that you can save money in labor and material costs by switching to Single Use ophthalmic lenses from traditional durable, reusable lenses.

Moreover, the FDA and EU Commission have stipulated that Single Use medical devices should be used whenever available over durable, reusable devices. The reason is progression of infectious diseases that are becoming ever resistant to our disinfection chemicals and protocols.  Sterile Single Use lenses meet the suggestions of regulatory bodies and offer piece of mind to the Ophthalmologist, and more so to the patient.

  • Quality of Volk-manufactured optics deliver high resolution magnified images in a sterile, single-use design. 10 lenses per box.
  • Capsulotomy lens allows for precise laser beam placement at the capsular bag.
  • Iridotomy lens delivers the highest magnification imaging of the iris.
