
Roger F. Steinert, MD
Roger F. Steinert, MD, is a vice chairman of clinical ophthalmology; director of refractive, cornea, and cataract surgery; and professor of ophthalmology and biomedical engineering at the University of California, Irvine Healthcare in Irvine, CA.
Dr Steinert held faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School (where he received his medical degree in 1977) until his recruitment to UC Irvine in 2004. He is internationally known for his research and clinical expertise in the fields of cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and refractive surgery. He has published more than 120 peer-review journal articles, more than 60 book chapters, and four textbooks. Dr Steinert recently completed his term as president of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and now is program chair of its annual meeting.
