Eye health nutraceutical company EyePromise® announced last week its introduction of Screen ShieldTM Pro to its premium eye vitamin line. Screen Shield Pro is a one-a-day softgel eye health vitamin designed to protect and relieve the associated symptoms of digital eye strain of adults (ages 18 and up) who spend 8+ hours staring at digital screens while working, gaming, or just binge-watching their favorite shows.
The release follows the recent introduction of Screen Shield Teen, an ocular nutrition supplement specially formulated to preserve and support visual comfort and wellness for children ages 4-17.
The effects of screen time and harmful blue light are a daily concern. An independent survey* of 500 consumers found that 92 percent of adults experience at least one vision-related issue due to screen-time usage. Four-in-five (81 percent) adults complained of tired eyes, followed by headaches and eye strain. Two-thirds (66%) of respondents believe that they use their devices “too much,” but about 40 percent of them say they believe it is necessary for their daily needs.
“EyePromise Screen Shield Pro is formulated for health-conscious consumers to help relieve digital eye strain and improve visual performance. It helps build a strong macular pigment layer which shields your eyes from blue light,” notes Dennis Gierhart, Ph.D., co-founder of ZeaVision®, the parent company of EyePromise. “It is made with all-natural zeaxanthin, lutein, omega-3s and other nutrients that have been proven to positively impact the symptoms associated with increased screen time.”
