Bausch + Lomb Expands Power Range of Astigmatism Contact Lenses

Global eye health company Bausch + Lomb announced today the launching of expanded parameters for Biotrue® ONEday for Astigmatism daily disposable contact lenses. The expansion extends the full power range to +4.00D to -9.00D, in three cylinder powers of -0.75, -1.25 and -1.75, and additional parameters in a -2.25 cylinder. With this extended range, eye care professionals will have the opportunity to offer more astigmatic patients the convenience of a daily disposable contact lens that provides continued comfort1 and moisture retention.2

“While there is a significant number of astigmatic patients in the U.S., many are not fitted in a toric lens as they believe there are limited options available to address their unique vision needs,” said John Ferris, general manager, U.S. Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb. “We believe that the parameter expansion of Biotrue® ONEday for Astigmatism will allow eye care professionals to fit more of these patients with a convenient, comfortable daily disposable lens option.”

Similar to the other products in the Biotrue® ONEday brand family, Biotrue® ONEday for Astigmatism starts and ends the day with more moisture than any other contact lens. It has a patented dehydration barrier, that allows the lens to maintain nearly 100% of its moisture for a full 16 hours.2 In addition, Biotrue® ONEday for Astigmatism contact lenses offer an evolved peri-ballast design, featuring a tapered edge to limit lid interaction, and spherical aberration control to help reduce halos and glare, particularly in low light conditions.
