Beaver-Visitec Wins Medical Design Award for Pupil Expander

Beaver-Visitec International (BVI) was recently named a gold winner in the 2017 Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) for its Visitec® I-Ring® pupil expander.

The Visitec I-Ring is reportedly a new, single-use pupil expansion device that safely and gently expands the iris to view and access the lens during cataract surgery. The product was reportedly designed specifically for increasingly common Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome in patients, and its safety features and soft material helps minimize risk to delicate tissues in these complicated cases.

The Visitec I-Ring was reportedly named a Gold Winner in the Implant & Tissue Replacement Products category of the 19th Annual MDEA competition. The MDEAs are reportedly the medical technology industry's premiere design competition that celebrates achievements of medical device manufacturers, their suppliers, and the many people behind the scenes who are responsible for these products.
