The Macula Vision Research Foundation (MVRF) and VisionCare, Inc. recently announced the formation of a partnership with the goal of increasing awareness of potential treatments for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), including the CentraSight treatment program that includes the telescope implant.
The partnership is reportedly centered around MVRF's SupportSightSM program — a national education and outreach arm of the Foundation that includes free SupportSightSM seminars across the country, the SupportSightNewsSM newsletter, and SupportSightSM resources including a referrals, outreach, online and digital resources, referrals and access to disease-specific information and clinical trials.
According to MVRF, a top priority of the program is to provide the latest and most credible information to help people with macular degeneration learn more about viable advancements and connect them directly to specific opportunities that may be right for them. Through the partnership, MVRF and VisionCare will reportedly work to raise awareness about the potential benefits of the telescope implant for patients with profound vision loss in both eyes.
