 Mount Sinai Ophthalmologist Receives ARVO Award

Dr. Robert Ritch, Shelley and Steven Einhorn Distinguished Chair in Ophthalmology, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai (NYEE), has been selected to receive the 2017 Joanne G. Angle Service Award from the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).

Ritch is reportedly being recognized as an outstanding leader who has made significant contributions to the eye and vision research community, and he was selected by ARVO for his track record of continuous service to the organization since 1991. One of his achievements include thee "ARVO Host-a-Researcher Program," which gives researchers from underdeveloped countries the opportunity to attend the association’s annual meeting and learn valuable information from fellow investigators, colleagues, and mentors.

Additionally, Ritch has reportedly devoted his career to broadening our understanding of the underlying etiologies and mechanisms of glaucoma, and is the founder of the Glaucoma Foundation.
