The Lighthouse Guild recently announced Dr. Daniel Palanker the recipient of the 2016 Bressler Prize and Dr. Pradeep Y. Ramulu the 2016 Pisart Award honoree during a two-day conference at the New York Historical Society in late October.
Dr. Palanker is a professor in the Department of Ophthalmology, School of Medicine, and Hansen Experimental Physics Laboratory at Stanford University. Palanker reportedly directs a multi-disciplinary research program on electro-neural interfaces, including small wireless photovoltaic retinal implants, allowing for easier implantation and better vision.
Dr. Ramulu is an associate professor of ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is a glaucoma specialist with a research focus on difficulties patients with vision loss have with reading, walking, driving and traveling, including rehabilitative strategies.
