Kowa Optimed, Inc
Meets academic and institutional requirements to participate in medical studies
TORRANCE, CA— Kowa Optimed, the world leader in medical ophthalmic solutions, announced today the launch of the fourth generation of the VX‐10α two‐in‐one nonmydriatic and mydriatic fundus camera. The VX‐10α received FDA 510(k) approval on July 6th, 2009.
The new camera allows for 30 and 50 degree optical angle photography which meets most academic and institutional requirements to participate in medical studies. The standard digital camera back is the Nikon D90 with now a 12.9 megapixel DX‐format CMOS sensor. It features a multiple step flash for its various photographic modes which ensures proper exposure in every mode as well as a built in LCD observation monitor when in the mydriatic and FA modes to help reduce photophobia and make photography smoother. Furthermore, the VX‐10α also provides working distance guidance and focus detection functions that allow for sharp images. Its compact size makes it more maneuverable and convenient to use.
The VX‐10α is a multispecialty practice camera. Ideal not only for ophthalmologists but also for internal medicine physicians, the VX‐10α aids in the early detection of diabetes and immune deficiency diseases. This camera coincides with the ongoing trend of ophthalmologists and general practitioners working together in the same offices to give their patients more comprehensive care.
