Clifton Park, NY October 20, 2009 -- The development of automatic image registration and montage software, i2k Retina, by
DualAlign
LLC is promising to become the foundation for future innovations in retinal imaging applications. The novel software, which comes packaged with an API for custom software development, is fully automatic and very robust
“i2k Retina, based on DualAlign's i2Align image registration and recognition technology, is the most sophisticated software package in the world for automatically aligning and montaging retinal images,” says Dr. Charles Stewart, DualAlign LLC’s CSO. According to Dr. Stewart, i2k Retina can create wide field-of-view montages of color fundus images, allowing users to see much of the retina in a single, seamless display. It can align fluorescein images to provide a stable view of the retina over the stages of circulatory filling, and it can be used to combine color fundus images with fluorescein images, relating the surface appearance to the blood flow images. Dr. Stewart states “users have even applied i2k Retina to montaging microscopy sequences of the layers of the rat retina!”
According to Remy Arteaga, DualAlign’s CEO, the software “has been very well received.” Mr. Arteaga goes on to say that “Moorfields Eye Hospital and Wilmer Eye Institute have purchased copies of i2k Retina and both have stated that i2k Retina is by far the best montage - registration software they have ever used. We have also been approached about extending our software to work with OCT and fundus imagery- preliminary testing is very promising.”
AAO attendees will receive a 25% discount during the show by visiting Booth # 2354. Users can also purchase i2k Retina directly by going to http://www.dualalign.com.
