iForum™ offers surgeons a new outlet to learn and share latest techniques and data on canaloplasty
Menlo Park, California, March 3, 2009 – iScience Interventional, developers of the
microcatheter technology used for innovative therapies such as canaloplasty for primary
open-angle glaucoma (POAG), announced the launch of a new surgeon support Web site
called iForum™. iForum™ provides canaloplasty-trained surgeons a tool to facilitate the
adoption of canaloplasty into their practice by establishing a resource center and forum for
peer-to-peer interaction on this new technique.
iForum™ is open to all registered canaloplasty-trained physicians who have incorporated the
procedure into their treatment armamentarium for their patients with open-angle glaucoma.
The Web site’s features range from a peer-to-peer chat room and message board, to
Webinars and procedure video footage. In addition to sharing experiences and questions
via the message boards and a chat room, users have access to clinical materials and resources
which will keep them up-to-date on the latest procedural advances and patient education
tools for canaloplasty. There are also downloadable educational seminars and presentations,
and a video gallery that contains surgical technique videos. Users are also able to upload
their own videos to share with the community. The site will also feature podcasts of recent
presentations by thought leaders within the canaloplasty community.
“We are pleased to establish this online community for ophthalmologists as they embark on
the adoption of interventional platforms into their surgical practice” says Mike Nash, co-
founder and President of iScience Interventional. “iScience is committed to providing a
support network for surgeons as they embrace microcatheter-based procedures, and
ultimately deliver the benefits of these procedures to their patients.”
All registered, canaloplasty-trained surgeons have been sent an introduction email with their
usernames and passwords. For more information, please contact iScience Interventional or
visit http://iforummd.com.
Canaloplasty is a minimally invasive procedure that is safe and effective in lowering
intraocular pressure and reducing medication dependence in POAG patients.
