Wednesday after the bell, Alcon, Inc. (ACL), a manufacturer of pharmaceutical and surgical equipments, reported a 6.1% increase in profit for the fourth quarter from the previous-year period, buoyed by a 20% increase in revenue. Adjusted net earnings for the quarter increased 10.9% over the prior-year period. Looking ahead, the company forecast earnings and sales for fiscal year 2008.
