The Silhouette Mid-Face Suture is the newest and most innovative facial Tissue suspension device available for “Lunch Time” facelift procedures. Designed in cooperation with one of the world’s most renowned plastic surgeons, Dr. Nicanor Isse, M.D., the technologically advanced Silhouette Suture represents a vast improvement over conventional barb sutures and promises improved and longer lasting results for patients seeking facial rejuvenation and mid-face elevation.

The New Silhouette Lift, which uses the Silhouette Suture exclusively, frees patients from complications commonly associated with barb sutures, such as temporal pain and prickly sensations, as well as suture breakage and extrusion. According to Dr. Isse, “The Silhouette Suture was designed to provide a simplified but highly effective procedure to correct mid-facial laxity while achieving excellent results through a single upper incision. The new sutures are stronger than the conventional barb sutures and stand less of a chance of breaking, and importantly, they are uniquely designed to interact with normal tissue through surrounding collagen tissue formation for far better results.”

Compared to the barbed suture, which is created with cuts made into the shaft of a conventional suture thereby weakening the inherent strength of the thread itself, the patent pending Silhouette Suture is manufactured using a 3-0 polypropylene substrate which is stronger and allows for smaller knot tying in the temporal area. Each suture holds several clear, flexible, absorbable, hollow cones that allow for tissue growth inside and around the cones creating a much stronger anchoring mechanism. Once the cones are completely absorbed, tissue grown around and through the small knots will ensure tissue suspension. Furthermore, these sutures can safely be removed after the cones are completely absorbed.

Suture suspension is a technique that falls in between more invasive procedures such as the standard facelift and less invasive techniques such as filler injections as a method of facial rejuvenation and mid face elevation. The Silhouette Sutures are inserted through an incision in the temporal area using a long needle and are passed through the mid face. When pulled back towards the temporal area, the hollow cones anchor on the soft tissue to be lifted. After lifting the tissue to the desired height, the tissues are fastened onto the deep temporal fascia.

The Silhouette Lift is performed under local anesthesia and takes about an hour. Patients can go back to work in one to two days, although swelling may not abate completely for several weeks.
