UAB Adds Research-Intensive Track to Ophthalmology Residency Program

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Ophthalmology recently announced it was adding a new research-intensive academic track to its residency program.

Through the new academic track, residents will be able to have protected research time during their second year, allowing them to complete an 18-month research project. This will reportedly provide residents with a more intensive research experience than was previously possible. Projects will end with residents presenting their findings at the department's symposium during their third year.
