Eurobio announces the granting of new European and American patents in the field of corneal graft.
Paris, May 17, 2016 - EUROBIO (www.eurobio.fr), now European leader in cornea preservation, announces the attainment of European and American patents for its innovative device I-Glide® , co-owned with the Venice Eye-Bank (FBOV).
"These two patents result from a strategic partnership between Eurobio and the FBOV. We are glad and proud to concretize this new offer for a device aimed towards handling and storage of corneal lamellar grafts. This device also enables us to enhance our commercial offer for the American market" says Denis Fortier, General Manager of Eurobio.
Eurobio holds the exclusive global marketing for this revolutionary medical device for cornea graft.
The i-GLIDE device:
I-Glide® brings forward an innovative solution for the preservation and specific transport of the corneal endothelium, making the DSAEK easier, quicker and more flexible. Corneal trephination and precutting are performed in the Eye-Bank. The lamellar membrane is inserted in the I-Glide® device which is filled with a proper storage medium (such as CORNEA Cold®) and sent to the operating room. The endothelium can then be preserved in its storage medium for up to a week.
The I-GLIDE device saves time and ensures an optimal reproducibility during the surgical procedure. Thanks to its technical simplicity, the learning curve is reduced to a minimum for the surgeons.
