The National Eye Institute (NEI) recently announced it had appointed four new eye care professionals to the National Advisory Eye Council — its advisory body that provides advice to guide NEI research and training programs.
The new council members include:
- Tom Glaser, M.D., Ph.D., professor, Department of Cell Biology and Human Anatomy, University of California, Davis School of Medicine
- Louis Robert Pasquale, M.D., professor, Ophthalmology, Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts Eye and Ear
- Dennis M. Levi, O.D., Ph.D., professor, Optometry and Vision Science, University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry
- Sylvia B. Smith, Ph.D., regents’ professor and chair, Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University and Co-Director, James and Jean Culver Vision Discovery Institute
