A new light-based technique that can be used to strengthen corneal tissue was recently spotlighted in Optica, the journal of The Optical Society.
According to researchers, the new method strengthens the cornea by precisely crosslinking collagen fibers that make up corneal tissue without disturbing untreated areas. They hope that one day this technique can be used as a treatment for eye issues caused by weakened corneal tissue.
