Dr. Dean Bok, a distinguished research professor of ophthalmology and neurobiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, recently received the 2016 Helen Keller Prize for Vision Research for his work in retinal cell biology.
Dr. Bok was presented with the award by the Helen Keller Foundation for Research and Education and BrightFocus Foundation at the recent annual meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). According to BrightFocus, Dr. Bok's four decades of work has helped significantly improve the understanding of macular degeneration.
