Volk Optical’s TVG Surgical Gonio stabilizes the eye
Mentor, Ohio (February 07, 2014) –Volk Optical’s new TVG Surgical Gonio lens provides clear views and maximum ocular control during micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and other intraoperative gonioscopy procedures.
The lens was developed in collaboration with Transcend Medical, a pioneer in MIGS procedures, and Dr. Steven Vold. Its unique floating lens feature, with stabilization ring and multiple pivot points, provides ocular control not possible with current surgical gonio lenses. Traditional lenses can apply pressure to the cornea and distort chamber angle views. The TVG’s floating lens does not apply any corneal pressure, eliminating this potential for distortion and providing clearer imaging.
A Thornton-style stabilization ring provides improved control of the globe during surgery, increasing precision and surgeon comfort. The lens can also be used in the left or right hand, according to surgeon’s preferred dominant hand.
Additionally, like all Volk surgical lenses, the TVG is compatible with steam sterilization and constructed to withstand repeated sterilization cycles without image degradation over time.
