Heidelberg, Germany—June 13, 2013— Heidelberg Engineering GmbH, the global ophthalmic imaging company, today announced that Dr. Kester Nahen has been appointed Managing Director. Dr. Nahen joins the two founders of the company Dr. Gerhard Zinser and Christoph Schoess on the Board of Directors. Dr. Nahen has served as Vice President of Global Marketing and Business Development since he joined Heidelberg Engineering in 2007.

Dr. Nahen has over 12 years of business experience in the medical device industry. Before joining Heidelberg Engineering he held several executive positions at Silicon Valley based Laserscope until the AMS/Laserscope merger. Dr. Nahen holds a Master of Science in physics from the University of Hamburg, Germany and a Ph.D. in biomedical optics from the Medical University of Luebeck, Germany where he conducted his research at the Medical Laser Center.
