Haag-Streit USA Launches Surgical Division

Haag-Streit

Mason, Ohio (January 3, 2013)—Haag-Streit USA announces the launch of a new division: Haag-Streit Surgical. The new unit will market a line of surgical microscopes that already enjoy significant market share throughout Europe. Formerly known as Möller-Wedel, the devices are now being offered in the U.S. under the new Haag-Streit Surgical brand.

“This line of surgical microscopes is well established in Europe,” said Haag-Streit USA CEO Ernest Cavin. “Now American ophthalmologists, neurosurgeons and otolaryngologists will have better access to devices with a proven record of superior optics. This launch offers a new choice for the marketplace—one that will benefit doctors and their patients.”

To introduce the product line to U.S. doctors, Haag-Streit Surgical launched a network of independent sales representatives. Haag-Streit is leveraging its existing toll free number and website to connect interested doctors with product information.

The surgical microscope line, including Haag-Streit’s Hi-R NEO 900, will be on display at the Haag-Streit booth at leading ophthalmology conferences throughout 2013. The Hi-R NEO 900 is a universal microscope for surgical procedures, such as ophthalmology, that require vertical observation. Its exceptionally large stereo base provides maximal depth perception and clear zoom illumination delivers safe, bright light.
