2012 Eye Ball Gala Focuses On Helping The Blind And Visually Impaired Worldwide

WHAT: The Lions Eye Institute for Transplant & Research (LEITR) is “Keeping the World in Sight” during this year’s Eye Ball Gala. LEITR is proud to welcome Mrs. World and April Lufriu, as well as international researchers, surgeons and transplant recipients who have received the gift of sight.

Tickets to the gala are $150. All proceeds will go to programs for raising awareness and unlocking a cure for the more than 285 million blind and visually impaired people across the globe.

WHO: In addition to guest speakers Mrs. World and April Lufriu, Lewis Groden, M.D., executive medical director, LasikPlus Vision Centers/LCA Vision, and associate professor of ophthalmology, University of South Florida, will be presented with the Light of Sight Award and Henry F. Edelhauser, Ph.D., professor of ophthalmology, Emory University, will be presented the Innovation and Research Award.
