DescriptionDesigned to stabilize the capsular bag in cases of damaged or missing zonules. The Cionni CTR is specially designed for scleral fixation with suture. Robert J. Cionni, M.D. of the Cincinnati Eye Institute, recognized from his early experience using The Ahmed CTS is a modified design of the Cionni capsular tension rings manufactured by Morcher GmbH of Stuttgart, Germany. The CTS is a partial ring of clear PMMA covering approximately one quadrant with a hole for temporary or permanent fixation.Three CTR types have been approved: Type 14, 14A and 14C. The three rings are available in different diameters to accommodate the variations in the size of the individual patient’s capsular bag.
