Eye Tech Care Named Top Technology Innovation for Glaucoma Therapy System

Eye Tech Care — a developer of non-invasive therapeutic medical devices for ophthalmology — was recently presented with the 2016 Award for Technology Innovation by Frost & Sullivan for work in the glaucoma therapy market.

Eye Tech Care first commercial medical device is called EyeOP1® — a computer-assisted glaucoma therapy system that reportedly uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to control intraocular pressure (IOP). The system reportedly works by targeting the ciliary body to control the production of aqueous humor. It reportedly takes less than three minutes, is painless and non-invasive.

The EyeOP1 device reportedly received an initial CE marking in 2010 and earned a CE mark extension in 2015, and is reportedly now indicated to treat any glaucoma patient, preferably with an IOP of more than 21 mmHg.
