Prevent Blindness Declares April as Women’s Eye Health and Safety Awareness Month

Prevent Blindness has declared April as Women’s Eye Health and Safety Awareness Month in an effort to educate women about the steps they can take today to help preserve vision in the future.

According to Prevent Blindness, more women than men have eye disease, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataracts and glaucoma. And according to the organization's study, "The Future of Vision: Forecasting the Prevalence and Costs of Vision Problems," these numbers will only continue to increase in the years to come.

To help educate women about eye health, Prevent Blindness recently launched SeeJaneSee.org offering free education and resources on everything from eye disease to cosmetic safety to vision changes during pregnancy. In addition, the site also features a section written by leading experts on a range of topics from the importance of eye exams to effects of smoking on vision.

Additionally, for the second year in a row OCuSOFT ® Inc. has reportedly agreed to donate 10 percent of all online sales during April's Women’s Eye Health and Safety Awareness Month.
