Digital Fundus Camera

A digital fundus camera is used to take an image of the fundus — the back portion of the eye that includes the retina, macula, fovea, optic disc and posterior pole. A digital fundus camera normally consists of a camera with a specialized microscope attached. Either a lamp or flash provides the light necessary for photo taking, and depending on the camera photos at different angles of view — from narrow to wide — can be taken. The resulting image can then be used by an ophthalmologist for diagnosis and treatment.

ZEISS CLARUS 500
  • Features: CLARUS 500, the newest ultra-widefield retinal camera from ZEISS, allows clinicians to use color to their diagnostic advantage. ZEISS CLARUS generates images that closely resemble the coloration of the fundus as seen during clinical examination. Color fundus imaging can aid in the diagnosis and documentation of ocular disease, ensuring confidence when evaluating the optic disc, nevi and lesions where color is important.

ZEISS CLARUS 500 captures clear and accurate images from the macula to the far periphery. Early indications of disease can often be subtle and difficult to see through direct observation or low resolution fundus imaging. Leveraging ZEISS optics, CLARUS 500 is an ultra-widefield retinal camera that captures a high-resolution image down to 7 microns.

ZEISS CLARUS 500 allows clinicians to track subtle changes in pathology over time. In addition to true color imaging, it also captures high resolution fundus autofluorescence (FAF) images–FAF-Blue and FAF-Green–and Infrared (IR) and external eye images. Along with an intuitive review software, the ultra-high-resolution of this next-generation retinal camera from ZEISS allows clinicians to manage change with confidence.

Retina Scan Duo™2 OCT / Fundus Camera
  • Features: Fundus image acquisition with macula and disc capture in one image on OCT

Combined diagnosis of macular and disc pathologies
A 12 x 9 mm wide area image can be acquired. The retina map captures both the macula and disc in a single shot.
The normative database (macula: 9 x 9 mm, disc: 6 x 6 mm) provides a wide area color-coded map comparing the patient’s macular thickness to a population of normal eyes.

B-scan image denoising using deep learning
A new image enhancement technique using deep learning automatically displays a denoised image once B-scan acquisition is complete. With deep learning of a large data set of images averaged from 120 images, this denoising technique provides high definition images comparable to a multiple-image-averaging technique. The denoising function generates high definition images from a single frame while decreasing image acquisition time and increasing patient comfort.

    Fundus autofluorescence (FAF)
The FAF function is an advanced screening feature that allows non-invasive evaluation of the RPE without contrast dye.

    Optional features
    -AngioScan
    -Long axial length normative database
    -Anterior segment adapter
